It is Half Carried

Mark 15: 21

Do you consider yourself a good person? A person who does not need a Savior because you think that you are not doing any great evil things like killing, stealing, or any criminal things. I can consider that Simon a Cyrenian was also like you but his experienced of carrying the cross with Jesus was not an accident. It was a picture of some of us if not all, of how He carried the cross almost near to the Calvary already. Imagine if he was seen earlier by the Roman soldiers passing by from the very beginning or was staring from a distance, it might be he would carry the cross with Jesus from the very beginning and it would be surely tiring and difficult for him. His personal experience with Christ brought him and his whole family to believe in Him as the Messiah that the Jews were waiting for a long time.

His short story in the Gospels tells us that the cross was already half carried and this is a realization that in the time He called you to carry your cross you did not suffer everything in this life, He received them already, the stripes and pain. It is comforting to know also that you will not carry it alone but rather He will still stand by your side and carry it along with you until you reach calvary. Now, the amazing thing is that all the sins that you were keeping from your childhood and every little secret sin you were doing had been crucified on the cross by the one and only Jesus.

What Christ has done is not only for those who think themselves are chief sinners but also for those who consider themselves not guilty of big sins. We all need a Savior and Jesus is offering this gift to everyone for being good in our own eyes is not enough to secure our eternity in Heaven. It requires the blood of a blameless lamb who was Jesus who half-carried your cross already to the Calvary, still carried it with you all throughout, and chose to die alone on the cross without you experiencing the agony on it. However, carrying your cross halfway to the mountain with Him is enough to tell you that He loves you so much!
