A Ten-Piece Garland – Restored Identity
Luke 15:8-10

8 “Or what woman, having ten silver coins, if she loses one coin, does not light a lamp, sweep the house, and search carefully until she finds it? 9 And when she has found it, she calls her friends and neighbors together, saying, ‘Rejoice with me, for I have found the piece which I lost!’ 10 Likewise, I say to you, there is joy in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner who repents.”
The day when knew that we need a Savior and the day we accepted Jesus in our lives to be our King, Master, and Redeemer of our past, present and future situation was the day we declared our new found identity in Him and so it does not matter anymore how do you or others see your self but how He sees you and I. Since that day God sees us a bride waiting for His groom to come again and to be with Him forever.
There is a great meaning behind this parable of Jesus about the ten-piece garland. During the early times of Jesus, since there was no bank to keep the money, specifically gold, the people must keep properly their money/gold. For married women, they make a headdress with a maximum of ten pieces of gold hanging onto it. This signifies there identity and position as a noble wife and therefore losing one of it tells that you made a disrespectful act and worthy of divorce. Thus, Jesus narrates it that she sought for it earnestly until she found it, in addition, she celebrated with her friends too when she found it.
This story describes how important each saved souls was and how He convicts us to look for this one precious pence of gold. We are His bride being prepared for His coming, our groom, but as we wait for Him, He is looking upon us, if we are eagerly and desperately seeking the lost souls of our family, relatives, friends, neighbors and people He is giving to us. I unbelieving people who are being connected to us is not cause of a chance but rather with special divine intervention so that they will come to know Christ and be part of the ten-piece garland over the head of His bride-church.
Just like us, their identity should be found in Christ, as His bride and sanctified wife always ready to meet His husband. This is the joy of heaven, that one penny of gold is to be found. Let us keep on searching for this lost coin and never get weary for His Spirit is leading us to this right person who needs Christ, that is what I believe!
